Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Everything you need to know before the first day — ages, uniform, examinations, and shows.

At what age can a child start?

Children can start classes from 2½ years and above, since we offer a special Royal Academy of Dance syllabus where children experience dance through music, expression, and creativity.

Is the uniform compulsory?

Yes. All students should look the same, as if one person, which makes it easier for the teacher to correct and see each child's posture and technique. The uniform is also required for Royal Academy of Dance examinations.

Can parents watch classes?

Parents are welcome to watch their child's first class only, as their presence usually distracts the children's concentration. Of course, before every examination, parents are invited to watch their children's progress.

When is a child's first examination?

Children must be over six years old to take their first examination, which is the Primary level of the Royal Academy of Dance.

How often does the school hold shows?

The school holds a show every three years. A professional show takes time to prepare, and we also like to focus on the children's examinations.

What are the benefits of RAD examinations?

Royal Academy of Dance examinations are internationally recognised and give students clear goals, structured progression, and an objective assessment of their technique by an external examiner. They build discipline, confidence, and a sense of achievement at every level.
